R.C. Patel are experienced hoteliers,with almost 30 years as franchisees and hands-on operators. In addition, they have participated actively in avariety of hotel industry leadership positions. For example, in 1989 both werefounding members of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA),which was formed as a forum for advocacy and education. Mike served as chairman of AAHOA for 18 months in 1998-99, during which time heintroduced the 12 Points of Fair Franchising as a way of reforming relations between franchisees and franchisers. These points are now the basis of the new Budgetel’s business and operating philosophy. R.C. has served on numerous industry franchise advisory groups, including with AccorHotels, which has more than 4,000 hotels worldwide; with U.S. Franchise Systems,which operates the Hyatt Hotel brands; and with La Quinta Hotels and Suites. |
