In October, 2005, Preston Johnson, Jr. was named Vice President, Human Resources for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, one of the world’s largest independent oil and gas companies. Mr. Johnson leads the people development and human resource management of Anadarko’s worldwide work force.
Mr. Johnson has more than 25 years of leadership experience in financial, business, employee development and human resource management. Prior to joining Anadarko, he served as Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Shared Services for CenterPoint Energy. From 1977-2000, he held roles of increasing responsibility at Dow Chemical, ultimately serving as Global Director, Human Resources.
A graduate of Sam Houston State University, Mr. Johnson received a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1977 and a master of business administration from the University of Houston in 1983.
He is a member of the American Management Association, Society of Human Resource Professionals and the Houston HR Executive Roundtable. Additionally, he serves on the President’s Advisory Circle and the Business Advisory Board for Sam Houston State University and the Texas Business and Education Coalition Board of Directors. He was named a Distinguished Alumni of Sam Houston State in the Fall of 2003. Mr. Johnson has also authored several chapter publications on human resources and leadership in the workplace. |
