Dr. Banerjee has nearly 30 years of experience in the life sciences industry, both in the laboratory and in a consulting capacity. Today he is President and CEO of the University City Science Center in Philadelphia and a managing partner in Science Center Capital, a non-profit company with 32 universities in three states as shareholders with a mission to serve as a complete Venture-Ecosystem for science and technology companies.
Prior to joining the Science Center in 2004, Dr. Banerjee spent more than 15 years as a consultant to the life sciences industry with Accenture, Cooper & Lybrand and PA Consulting Group. During that time, he provided strategic and operational R&D management consulting in genomics, bio-informatics, discovery, pre-clinical and clinical development and R&D IT activities for a number of major pharmaceutical companies. He also has experience with developing new venture opportunities and strategic partnering for biotechnology companies. While President of Banmax Pharmaceuticals, he acquired the SK-Line-Generics from SmithKline, created a company and completed a public stock offering.
Dr. Banerjee earned his doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin (Madison) in 1979 and his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1986. He is the author of more than 30 publications and holds a patent on a transdermal delivery system.
