Phil Wright serves as president of Gas Pipeline. Before his current role he worked as
senior vice president and chief restructuring officer. Wright was named president and chief
executive officer for Williams Energy Services in September 2001 after serving as senior
vice president enterprise development and planning in the energy services group from
1996-2001. In September 2001 he was named chairman of the board for Williams
Energy Partners LP and served as its president and chief operating officer after being
named to the position in Feb. 2001.
From 1993-96 Wright served as president and chief operating officer of Williams Energy
Derivatives and Trading Company. He was senior vice president and general manager
of Williams Energy Ventures from 1993-94. Wright joined Williams Pipe Line Company
in 1989 as vice president of marketing and transportation where he served until 1993.
Prior to joining Williams Wright worked 13 years for Conoco where he served in the
positions of general manager of operations for natural gas and gas products North
America; vice president of marketing for Conoco Specialty Products Inc.; manager of
downstream business development North America; and numerous other operations
engineering and commercial management roles from 1976-1989.
Education
Wright earned his bachelor’s in civil engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1976.
He graduated from the Conoco Pipe Line Company management development program
in 1978. He also attended the development of strategic leadership program at the Center
for Creative Leadership in 2000.
Industry/Community Leadership
Wright serves as second vice chairman of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of
America and is the former chairman of the executive committee of the Association of Oil
Pipelines. He is a member of the American Center for Law and Justice and is a partner in
Pinnacle Forum a worldwide network of Christian leadership.
Speaking Experience
An accomplished speaker Wright is a former faculty member of the American Petroleum
Institute Petroleum Extension Program and the Northwestern University Transportation
Symposium. He also has served as a panelist for numerous industry seminars and
conferences. He has provided expert witness testimony in hearings before the Federal
Energy Regulatory Commission the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee and the U.S.
House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee. |
