Peter O’Neill is the Vice-President of Public & Investor Relations for Sierra Health Services, Inc., a publicly traded managed care company, headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada. In his position, Peter oversees all communication and outreach activities for the company, including media relations, community relations, and corporate communications. He is responsible for development and maintenance of the company’s corporate and subsidiary websites and its intranet. In his investor relations’ role he is the primary contact for Wall Street analysts and investors, and directs Sierra’s financial communications activities, including its quarterly earnings statements and annual report.
Prior to joining Sierra, Peter was director of corporate communications for WellPoint Health Networks, a publicly traded Fortune 500 managed care company previously headquartered in Southern California. At WellPoint, he was responsible for corporate and financial communications activities, including all merger and acquisition-related external and internal communications. He has also held communication management positions at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Hospital Association, both in Chicago.
Peter holds degrees in communication disorders a master’s degree from Northwestern University in Chicago and a bachelor’s degree from Loyola College in Baltimore. He is a founding board member of the Las Vegas Fire and Rescue Foundation, a member of the advisory board of Desert Willow Treatment Center, a member of the Las Vegas steering committee of the Human Rights Campaign and a member of the Board of Advisors for the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. He is also a graduate of the Chamber’s Leadership Las Vegas Class of 2003. In 2004, he was awarded the Chamber’s Community Achievement Award in the field of Communications. |
