professional, having worked in the technology industry in the UK since qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen in London in 1980.
For 17 years he was the Group Finance Director of Abacus Group plc, a European electronic components distributor, which he joined in 1987, shortly thereafter participating in the management team that bought the company from the founders. During his time with Abacus, where he had Board responsibility across the Group for all Finance, Legal & IT functions, he led the flotation of the company on the London Stock Exchange in 1993, & was heavily involved in the subsequent negotiation, acquisition and integration of numerous companies, such that the Abacus annual revenues grew tenfold during his tenure.
Before Abacus, Peter was responsible for setting up the Finance function in Europe for Digital Research, a West Coast based software company, & was part of the European management team that built European sales from a low base to approx half of worldwide sales within 4 years.
Prior to that he worked for 4 years at LTX, an East Coast based company semiconductor test equipment manufacturer, where he was also responsible for setting up their European Finance function.
Peter holds an MA degree from Oxford University, England, where he read PPE ( Philosophy, Politics and Economics ).
