Professional history, education and date of birth Sir Peter Davis was Group Chief Executive Officer / Chairman of J Sainsbury plc, London between 2000 and 2004. He was the Group Chief Executive of Prudential plc from 1995 to 2000 and Chief Executive and Chairman of Reed International and Chairman of Reed Elsevier (following the merger of Reed International with Elsevier) from 1986 to 1995. From 1976 to 1986, he had responsibility for all buying and marketing operations at J Sainsbury plc. Prior to that, he served as Marketing Director and Managing Director for Key Markets, part of Fitch Lovell Ltd., and as Marketing and Sales manager at General Foods Ltd., Banbury (United Kingdom).
