Peter Campochiaro, M.D., holds the Eccles Professorship of Ophthalmology at John Hopkins University and has received many awards for the study of the clinical manifestations and pathogenesis of retinal diseases. He has been a principal in clinical trials of surgical therapy and nutrition related to eye disease; his present interests include gene therapy and transplantation treatments for degenerations of the retina. He is the principal investigator on the Wilmer Center Grant from the Foundation Fighting Blindness. He has numerous grants from organizations such as the NIH, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and the American Health Assistance Foundation. Dr. Campochiaro has over 200 publications in top scientific and clinical journals, including work related to novel treatments of retinal disorders involving choroidal neovascularization, proliferative retinopathies, and retinal degeneration. He has served as a consultant for several ocular pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. |
