Peter Bell is Managing Director and founder of Stowe Capital, which specializes in providing capital and management expertise to emerging growth companies. Prior to establishing Stowe Capital, Mr. Bell was the co-founder and chairman of StorageNetworks, Inc., a Waltham, Massachusetts based-based information storage software and services company. Mr. Bell served as Chief Executive Officer of StorageNetworks from its founding in 1998 thru 2002. Under his leadership, Mr. Bell took the company from pioneering concept to over $120 million in annual revenue in three years and closed six rounds of equity capital financing, totaling over $700 million, including a successful initial public offering (IPO) in June 2000. A veteran of the information technology industry, Mr. Bell began his career at EMC Corporation in 1986, when the company had less than 100 employees. During his tenure at EMC, he held positions in marketing, operations and sales. He played a key role in building and managing the Open Storage Group at EMC, a major growth engine for the company. In 1996, Mr. Bell became Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at NetXchange Communications, Inc., a pioneer in the field of internet telephony software. In 1997, Mr. Bell joined Andataco, a provider of information storage products and services, where he led the company's worldwide sales organization. Mr. Bell grew up near Albany, New York. He earned a BS, summa cum laude in accounting from Boston College's Carroll School of Management in 1986 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1993. Mr. Bell also holds an Honorary Doctorate from Babson College. He and his wife, Marilee, a Boston College graduate (CSOM '87), have three sons and reside in Weston, MA. Mr. Bell is currently teaching the "Perspectives on Management" course at The Carroll School of Management at Boston College, and he is a Senior Lecturer at The Sloan School of Management at MIT. Mr. Bell's teaching interests are focused on entrepreneurship and leadership. |
