US national. Member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Nomination & Compensation Committee since June 2004. Term of office ends on the day of the 2008 General Meeting of Shareholders.
A graduate of San José University, California, Peter V. Ueberroth founded First Travel Corporation in 1962. From 1980 to 1984 he served as President of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee (LAOOC), followed by an assignment as the sixth Commissioner of Major League Baseball from 1984 to 1989. From 1993 to 2000 served as Co-Chairman of Doubletree Corporation, and since 1999 has been owner and Co-Chairman of the Pebble Beach Company (both in the USA). Since 1990, Peter V. Ueberroth has also served as Managing Director of Contrarian Group, Inc., USA.
Other appointments: member of the boards of directors of the Coca-Cola Company and Hilton Hotels Corporation, Chairman of the Board of Ambassadors International (AMIE) (all in the USA)
His honours include membership in the French Legion of Honour, and the Olympic Order (Gold) awarded by the International Olympic Committee.
In 2005, Peter V. Ueberroth chaired the United States Olympic Committee. |
