Peter J. Sistare is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group. His practice focuses on patent law in the mechanical and electrical technologies, including preparation and prosecution of patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, client counseling, drafting non-infringement and right-to-use opinions and due diligence matters.
Peter joined the firm from Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP, where he was a patent agent for several years, and then an associate in the firm’s intellectual property practice. Prior to his law career he was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard, responsible for compliance of engineering systems design for U.S. cargo, tank and passenger vessels, and offshore drilling and oil production platforms. Prior tours of duty included on-site inspections of commercial vessel engineering systems in the U.S., Europe, Middle East and Africa; operational and maintenance engineering of main propulsion and auxiliary systems on Coast Guard vessels; and narcotics interdiction.
In General. Peter received his bachelor's degree in marine engineering from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 1989, his master's degree in mechanical engineering from the United States Naval Postgraduate School in 1995, and his J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2003. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia.
Peter is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is also admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. |
