Peter Petesch counsels and trains employers on problem-solving and employment policy matters, litigates employment and labor cases, including whistleblower claims under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and AIR 21, represents employers in labor arbitrations, and negotiates collective bargaining agreements for airlines. He teaches employment law to both human resource professionals and attorneys in continuing legal education courses. Peter is the managing partner of the firm's DC office.
He is admitted to practice in Maryland, the District of Columbia, federal appellate courts nationwide, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and is AV® Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He was counsel for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in amicus briefs in four landmark Supreme Court Americans With Disabilities Act cases, he served on the SHRM Ethics Panel and currently serves on the SHRM Panel on Corporate Social Responsibility. Peter also serves on the Business Partners Board for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Business Responds to AIDS program, and received a National Business and Labor Award for Leadership on HIV/AIDS. He is on the editorial board of Thomson Publications' ADA Compliance Guide.
He has been a presenter at several SHRM national and regional conferences on a variety of ADA, mediation, and other employment law issues. Peter has published numerous articles on ADA and other employment issues in SHRM publications, and is quoted extensively on these topics on PBS, ABC, CNBC, CNN, National Public Radio and in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today, HR Magazine, and other national business publications.
