Peter Lucey is a partner in the Pleasanton office of Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo. Mr. Lucey represents California school districts and community college districts in education law and labor relations. He specializes in personnel issues dealing with layoff and discipline of teachers and other school employees. Mr. Lucey handles litigation involving reorganization of school districts, construction contract disputes, real property sale and acquisition, review of all forms of contracts, lease and property sale documents, the interpretation of collective bargaining agreements and student discipline matters. His administrative experience has involved appearances in matters before personnel commissions, retirement boards, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB). Before Joining Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo in 1985, Mr. Lucey served nine years with the Contra Costa County Counsel's Office. Mr. Lucey is a past president of the Eastern Alameda County Bar Association and past president and secretary of the County Counsels' Association, School Law Section and is a continuing member of the School Law Section. He is also a member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association. His military experience was with the 91st Division USAR. He conducts workshops for school administrators, board members and educational agencies on various education law-related topics. He is a frequent contributor to the firm's school law publications as well as other publications. |
