Peter Johnson was named Executive Director of Corporate Strategic Planning at Lilly in October 2001. He is also a member of the company’s senior management council and serves as the secretary of the policy and strategy committee.
Johnson graduated summa cum laude from the University of New Haven in 1981 with a degree in English Literature. He received a master's degree in business administration from the Stern School of New York University in 1986.
Johnson joined Lilly in June 1986 in New York as a financial analyst at Elizabeth Arden. Following the sale of Arden he relocated to Indianapolis in 1987.
In Indianapolis Indiana Johnson moved through a series of financial assignments from 1987 to 1991: corporate staff auditor financial analyst in the U.S. pharmaceutical business and financial manager supporting Lilly’s Puerto Rico and European manufacturing operations.
In 1992 Johnson began a series of jobs with Lilly’s manufacturing operations. First as the production manager in Indianapolis’ parenteral operations for diabetes care products then as the director of strategic facilities planning and finally as director of global manufacturing strategy. In 1996 Johnson was named director of corporate strategic Planning.
Johnson has served as a board member and is a past Board President for Child Advocates an organization that represents abused and neglected children in Indianapolis. He has also been active in youth soccer in central Indiana and was named Boys Soccer Coach of the Year in 1996 by the Indiana Youth Soccer Association. |
