Mr. Sibley, a partner specializing in the areas of real estate and construction litigation, joined Cooper, White & Cooper in January 1987. Mr. Sibley represents major residential and commercial developers, as well as general contractors, design professionals and subcontractors in a wide variety of real estate, construction deficiency and contract litigation, as well as litigation avoidance and pre-litigation counseling. He has handled matters involving soils, drainage and slope failure claims, seismic and structural issues, roofing, flashing and other waterproofing problems, materials problems such as polybutylene and ABS pipe failures, as well as nondisclosure, fraud and other misrepresentation claims which arise in the context of the sale of residential property. He has extensive experience in the defense of claims brought by large homeowner groups, including class action and homeowner association matters. He also specializes in insurance coverage matters from the standpoint of the insured. Real estate, construction and related matters have been the primary focus of his practice for approximately 25 years. Mr. Sibley is a 1970 graduate of Hastings College of the Law, where he was a member of the Hastings Law Journal. He is a member of the Construction Panel of the American Arbitration Association, and serves as an arbitrator on a regular basis. He is a member of the Building Industry Association, and the San Francisco and American Bar Associations. He has lectured before trade and professional organizations on the subjects of construction defect litigation management and insurance coverage. |
