Peter Gagnon is a Senior Consultant with Suss Consulting, Inc. He has over 30 years of professional government experience, including key technology management positions with the Department of Education.
Prior to joining Suss Consulting, Mr. Gagnon served as Chief of Telecommunications Management for the U.S. Department of Education. As the senior telecommunications official within the IRM group, he was responsible for the evaluation, acquisition, implementation and management of new technologies. He also represented the Department of Education on agency advisory and evaluation teams for major GSA communications contracts including the Washington Interagency Telecommunications System (WITS) and FTS2000.
During his final two years of service he was detailed to the Office of the Deputy Secretary to serve as a consultant to organizations throughout the Department and assist them in using technology to improve customer access to their information, services and programs. He worked with senior program officials on a wide range of initiatives including implementation of WAN and LAN. He led Education's benchmarking of customer service to explore the communications topology of existing systems and evaluate options for linking service centers by utilizing new and emerging network and call center technology. He also represented the Department of Education in the National Performance Review's Federal Consortium Benchmarking Study on One Stop Customer Service, focusing on call centers and customer access.
Prior to his tenure with the Department of Education, Mr. Gagnon was a senior manager at the Bureau of the Census, where he pioneered the use of call center technology and managed all facilities, telecommunications, records, safety, and travel for the 1980 Decennial Census. He also managed telecommunications services and technology procurement for the Department of Agriculture and served as a Real Property Officer and the Senior Contracting Officer with the General Services Administration.
