I am a scientist, but I like to let our customers know about our work, enthuses Pete Sant, technology manager for passenger-car motor oils, Shell Global Solutions (UK). Sant has responsibility for the fluid technology that goes into four of Shell’s global motor oil brands Shell Helix , Pennzoil‘, Quaker State‘ and Formula Shell. He tells Impact about his 34-year career in the Royal Dutch/Shell Group and the latest drive to educate consumers about the environmental consequences of choosing motor oil.
My job is about providing scientific support for creative ideas, says Sant. Take the Shell Helix campaign, which is about ‘Giving Your Car that Just Serviced Feeling’, refreshing, rejuvenating and reviving your engine. It is a simple and engaging message that consumers will remember. Our team had to demonstrate that Shell Helix cleans engines better than other oils. It does, and we proved it. That gave us a fantastic sense of achievement. |
