Pei-Jen Chen from Taipei in Multiple District 300, Taiwan, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 89th International Convention, held in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, June 30-July 4, 2006.

A member of the Taipei Country Lions Club since 1982, Director Chen has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chair, region chair, vice district governor and district governor. Additionally, he has served as district and multiple district secretary and secretary general of the 2003 OSEAL Forum in Taipei. For the last 20 years, he has organized a Lions painting competition for more than 3,000 children and a Lions chess tournament for more than 3,000 participants.
In recognition of his service to the association he has received numerous awards, including a 100% District Governor Award, two International Leadership Awards and three International President’s Awards. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. Director Chen has also received several community awards, including an award from the Ministry of Interior Affairs and an award from the Veteran Hospital for his contributions toward helping end the virus SARS.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Chen is active in numerous professional and community organizations, including the Taipei Bird Watching Association and the Taipei Go Chess Association.
