Mr. Escobosa served as chief executive officer, chief financial officer or chief marketing officer in a variety of companies and industries. Since launching his law practice in 1975, he has used his experience as an executive to counsel businesses of all sizes on the full range of legal and business questions they face in their operations, as well as to advise them on substantial strategic transactions, a growing specialty. From high-tech startups to more traditional companies, and from family businesses to public companies, Mr. Escobosa helps clients start, buy, sell and operate businesses of nearly every type, including car dealerships, internet entrepreneurs, software developers, restaurants, food manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers, distribution companies, real estate developers and operators, hotel and ski resort operators, law firms, consulting businesses, and so forth. He has worked with clients in Europe and Asia, in addition to U.S. entities. An expert in entity formation and operating issues, he has shepherded a wide variety of startup businesses through the corporate, partnership, or limited liability company formation process. In addition, Mr. Escobosa has counseled many prominent Bay Area executives on commencing and/or terminating their employment relationships. Professional Activities - Mr. Escobosa has served as a director on a number of corporate boards. He has lectured on business buy-out agreements for the California Continuing Education of the Bar, consulted on CEB articles on earn-out agreements, and written on issues important to car dealers. Mr. Escobosa has also served on boards of various nonprofit organizations, including the California School of Professional Psychology, Alliant International University, and the Ecole Bilingue (East Bay French American School), for his service to which he was awarded the Etoile Civique by France. Education - Mr. Escobosa graduated from Stanford University with bachelor's degree in Economics (1966) and a Master's degree in Business Administration (1968). After working for several years in various executive positions in different industries, he attended the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, San Francisco, and earned his law degree in 1975. At Hastings, he was elected to the Order of the Coif and the Thurston Society. |
