Paul N. Preketes is senior vice president of energy delivery for CMS Energy’s principal subsidiary Consumers Energy. He was appointed to this position in 2006. He has overall responsibility for engineering and planning for the utility’s electric and natural gas assets. Preketes also serves as president and a director of CMS Engineering a licensed professional engineering company. CMS Engineering is a wholly owned subsidiary
of Consumers Energy.Prior to being named to this post Preketes was senior vice president of gas operations for Consumers Energy and earlier vice president of natural gas operations in the metro Detroit area. In 1988 he was named general manager of the utility’s J.H. Campbell complex in Port Sheldon Township west of Grand Rapids Mich. He began his career with Consumers Energy in 1972 at the utility’s
J.R.Whiting plant near Monroe Mich. Preketes earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Toledo. He is a registered professional engineer
in Michigan.Preketes is a member and committee leader of several national utility organizations
including the American Gas Association Midwest Energy Association Common Ground Alliance and National Association of State Fire Chiefs Industry Advisory Board. He is past chair of the American Gas Association’s operating section managing committee and also serves on the organization’s security integrity and reliability committee and the leadership council. He is the past chair for the Midwest Energy Association and serves as treasurer of the excavation damage prevention task force for the Common Ground Alliance. Preketes is also a member of Leader Dogs For the Blind a national nonprofit organization. |
