Dr. Patrick Sheehan is a Principal Scientist in Exponent's Health Sciences practice with more than more 20 years experience conducting human health and ecological risk assessments. Dr. Sheehan participated in many of the original scientific committees involved in establishing the testing and technical policy guidelines for ecological risk assessment in the United States and Canada. He has managed and conducted human health and ecological risk assessments at more than 100 sites including some of the more notable contaminated sites in the United States. Dr. Sheehan also has conducted risk assessments for a number of sites and product liability issues under litigation. Studies directed by Dr. Sheehan have included wildlife population assessments toxicity testing toxicity identification evaluations risk allocation evaluations human and wildlife exposure assessments and probabilistic uncertainty analyses. He has considerable experience with hexavalent chromium lead copper cadmium mercury PCBs hexachlorobenzene hexachlorobutadiene the chlorinated solvents and silicones. Dr. Sheehan developed new methods for measuring hexavalent chromium in air evaluating leaching of chemicals from soil to sweat on the skin and assessing the probabilities of exposure to wildlife foraging occasionally in contaminated areas. Dr. Sheehan frequently interacts with local state and federal regulatory agencies and has testified as an expert before government panels and in legal proceedings on toxicology and risk assessment issues. He has co-authored 3 books and more than 40 publications on toxicology and risk assessment subjects. |
