Pat Coffey oversees MacFarlane Partners’ urban real estate investments in Southern California during their development, stabilization and operating phases. His duties include working with the firm’s development partners and third-party service providers to manage project construction, coordinate tenant improvements, and develop initial leasing and management strategies. On an annual basis, he prepares strategic plans, develops property operating budgets and undertakes hold/sell analyses. He also oversees property dispositions.Pat, who has 27 years of real estate experience, previously oversaw MacFarlane Partners’ risk management function, working to mitigate the various risks inherent in real estate investment while maximizing asset- and portfolio-level returns. He helped structure investment terms, assessed and mitigated against long-term liabilities, maintained corporate policies and procedures, and managed the firm’s compliance administration and insurance programs.Prior to joining MacFarlane Partners, Pat was a vice president and asset manager for Prudential Real Estate Investors, where he led a team that managed a $1.3 billion portfolio of 40 commercial properties in the western United States in which PRISA, the firm’s open-end commingled fund, had invested. Earlier, he served as a project manager in Tishman Speyer Properties’ acquisitions and development group. Among his responsibilities, he managed the development of a 139,000-square-foot office/retail project and directed the firm’s site acquisition and development efforts for a 250,000-square-foot office/multifamily project, both in Mountain View, California.Pat also served as a senior portfolio manager for GE Capital Real Estate, managing an $800 million portfolio of nearly 50 commercial and multifamily residential properties and loans in the western U.S. He began his real estate career with Crocker National Bank, sourcing and structuring loans for real estate syndicators.
