Patricia A. Martin became vice president global diversity of Lilly in June 2006. In this newly created role reporting to the chairman she will lead the implementation of the company’s integrated diversity strategy. Martin joins the company's senior management council leads the diversity leadership council and will participate as an ad hoc member of both the operations committee and the policy and strategy committee.
Born in Wabash Indiana she received a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Indiana University Bloomington in 1982. She also obtained a masters of business administration from the Harvard Business School Cambridge Massachusetts in 1991.
Martin’s previous role was as the osteoporosis global brand team leader since June 2004. She led late stage clinical development (Evista Forteo arzoxifene) and commercialization of three osteoporosis global brand development teams.
Martin joined Lilly in 1991 as a financial analyst of corporate finance and investment banking. She was promoted to manager of finance for the company’s endocrine business unit in 1995. She joined as director of investor relations in June of 1997 and then accepted the position of assistant treasurer in June of 1998. This was followed by the position of director of the Lilly Centre for Women’s Health in 2000 and then accepted the position of executive director of alliance management since July 2001. She also has held positions in Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL) financial and human resources.
