Her practice includes the development of estate and business plans to ensure the transferring of wealth to the next generation, and she sees to the implementation of such plans through the drafting of wills, inter vivos trusts and testamentary trusts using the marital deduction, credit shelter, disclaimer and generation skipping provisions. She is well-versed with the use of lifetime trusts and other arrangements designed to transfer property at little or reduced gift tax cost to selected beneficiaries. Ms. Galteri supervises the preparation of probate and administration documents, provides advice in the marshaling and preservation of estate assets, and she is knowledgeable in all aspects of estate administration, post-mortem estate tax planning and accounting issues. Ms. Galteri’s department prepares federal and state estate tax returns and defends estate tax audits. She is also called upon to appear in Surrogate’s Court to participate in contested probate and accounting proceedings. Professional Profile Ms. Galteri attended Hofstra University to earn a Bachelors degree in business administration, emphasizing on accounting. She continued her studies at the Hofstra University School of Law and upon graduation, was presented with a Citation of Excellence in Community Law Service.Ms. Galteri previously worked as a staff attorney in the Tax Department at one of the Big Five accounting firms in New York City, performing tax research for high net worth executives, multi-million dollar public and private companies, and restructured domestic corporations. She also participated in audits. Returning to Long Island, she worked as a tax consultant, primarily assisting in the preparation of business valuations in equitable distribution cases.Professional Affiliations Ms. Galteri’s professional affiliations include membership in the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association and the Suffolk County Bar Association. Ms. Galteri formerly chaired the Tax Committee of the Suffolk County Bar Association, as well as the Bi-County Committee of Attorneys and Accountants.
