Patricia is a member of the Construction/Surety, Litigation and Insurance sections of the Firm, and has been practicing law for more than eighteen years. Her practice has involved handling general civil litigation, arbitrations, and appeals in state and federal courts, including bankruptcy court. She has participated as a speaker for the Houston Paralegal Association and continuing legal education seminars sponsored by various insurance companies. Patricia was born in Galveston, Texas. Prior to practicing law, she was employed by the State of Texas Department of Health where she was appointed to several task forces by the Texas attorney to investigate health care providers. At the University of Houston Law Center, where she was elected Chancellor of the Order of the Barons and appointed Head Articles Editor for the Houston Journal of International Law. Practice Emphasis Patricia has particular expertise in insurance, construction, public sector, environmental, product liability, securities, real estate, railroad, oil and gas, admiralty, and toxic tort litigation. She has represented both insurers and insured in coverage disputes; homeowners, homebuilders, general contractors and subcontractors in commercial and residential construction disputes; municipalities, counties, and other governmental and public sector entities in tort claim litigation and §1983 claims; landowners, tenants, operators, and transporters in environmental and litigation; landowners, developers, and contractors in flooding cases; consumers, retailers, and manufacturers in product liability cases; investors in securities litigation; sellers, buyers, lessors, lessees, and realtors in real estate disputes; railroads and claimants in FELA actions, contract claims, and rail accidents; well owners, operators, contractors, and subcontractors in oil and gas disputes; individuals and companies in Jones Act, LHWCA, and OCSLA disputes; nursing homes, hospitals, and medical suppliers in medical malpractice claims; and a variety of parties in toxic tort cases. Her litigation experience has included class action lawsuits and multi-district litigation. |
