Pat Wood, III is the immediate past chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the independent regulator of the nation's interstate pipeline and wholesale electric power industries. During his four years at the FERC, he led the federal response to the 2000-2001 California energy crisis, the bankruptcy of Enron, the significant rise in fuel prices and the 2003 Northeastern power blackout. From 1995 to 2001, Wood chaired the Public Utility Commission of Texas, which led successful efforts to introduce retail customer choice and restructuring to the electric power and telecommunications industries. Wood has also been an attorney with the Baker & Botts law firm in Washington, D.C. and an associate project engineer with Arco Indonesia in Jakarta. |
