Palmer C. Hamilton practices in the areas of finance and governmental affairs. Born in Mobile, he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and his Juris Doctor from Duke University. Admitted to practice in Alabama in 1974, he served as Assistant to the Comptroller of the Currency in Washington from 1974 to 1976, and also was Chief of New Bank Chartering at the OCC. His private practice has focused on, among other things, insurance coverage issues for financial institutions. As a result, he has represented the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation on fidelity bond and directors and officers insurance matters throughout the United States. Today, Mr. Hamilton serves a number of regional and national financial services clients as Washington counsel. His clients have included a number of the top twenty-five financial services entities in the United States. He divides his time between the Firm's Mobile and Washington offices, spending three days a week in Washington. In Mobile, he serves on a number of boards and has been actively involved in efforts to revitalize the historic core of downtown Mobile. In that regard, he is the President of the Oakleigh Venture Revolving Fund and a member of the Mobile Historic Development Commission.
