Otis W. Baskin is professor of management at The George L. Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University in Malibu California where he served as dean from 1995-2001. He was awarded his Ph.D. by The University of Texas at Austin. He holds an M.A. from the University of Houston and a B.A. from Oklahoma Christian University. His academic career spans more than 25 years, and includes positions as dean of the Fogelman College of Business and Economics at The University of Memphis, director of the school of Management at Arizona State University West Campus, and coordinator of the management faculty at the University of Houston. Dr. Baskin also serves as Special Advisor to the President and CEO of AACSB International, the premier global accrediting body for business schools.Dr. Baskin has served as an advisor to management for public and private organizations in the United States, Asia, Europe and Latin America including, among others, Exxon/Mobil Research and Engineering Corporation, NASA and the United States Air Force. He is a frequent speaker to industry and executive groups, including The Conference Board and the International Security Management Association. In addition, he has served on several boards, including the board of the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation. Dr. Baskin has served as professor of management at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, Arizona State University, the University if Memphis, and Pepperdine University. He has also taught management development programs for executives from various industries, including high technology, aerospace, petrochemical and financial services. He was the founding director of the Center for Advanced Management Programs. Dr. Baskin has been very active in international business education in developing more than 20 strategic partnerships with business schools in Asia, Europe and Latin America for institutions where he served as dean. Dr. Baskin’s scholarly achievements include six books, in addition to numerous articles and published papers. His books include, among others, Productivity in R & D Organizations with Leslie Sullivan and Interpersonal Communication in Organizations with Craig Aronff. Dr. Baskin is active in the Academy of Management, in which he has held several national offices, and he has served as a founding member of the editorial board of the Academy of Management Executive journal. |
