Mr. Girdwood joined BRS in October 2007 with over 20 years of parachute design manufacturing and testing experience. He started skydiving in high school and after graduating went on to become a pilot in the South African Air Force flying a variety of tactical aircraft. Upon leaving the service he worked for PISA (Parachute Industries of Southern Africa) where he designed and tested sport and military parachute equipment along with a variety of other products. He was pivotal in obtaining TSO certification for PISA's sport parachutes which is notable since no other skydiving sport parachutes had ever been certified outside of the United States. Mr. Girdwood also provided production support as PISA's Technical Manager before leaving this position and relocating to Tampa Florida to join Aerodyne Research. Progressive responsibilites followed as Operations Manager for Sun Path Products (Zephyrhills Florida) and later as President of Sun Path Contracting (North Carolina) a manufacturing facility for Sun Path's military equipment product lines.
Mr. Girdwood has two patents for parachute design to his credit and has logged over 3 200 skydives and 964 hours as a pilot . |
