Experience:
Nigel Howard is a transactional lawyer whose practice is concentrated on information technology and outsourcing and on issues of intellectual property. He represents clients in the course of complex and mission-critical technology transactions, including outsourcing, licensing, joint venture, and strategic alliance transactions. Nigel also provides client representation during intellectual property purchases and sales, and in reviews of IP portfolios in relation to corporate financing and merger and acquisition transactions. He advises on cross-border technology transfers and on development and testing arrangements, distribution channels, technology deployment, and electronic commerce and Internet strategies. In addition, Nigel is extremely knowledgeable concerning privacy laws with regard to electronic databases and online services.
Chambers USA (2007) notes that clients describe Nigel as " . . . 'one of the most gentlemanly lawyers in town' . . . '[his] cool, calm personality works well with clients' and helps facilitate 'mutually acceptable resolutions' at the negotiating table." In 2004-2005, Chambers observed that " . . . Nigel joined Mayer Brown in 2003 after working with another major New York law firm, where he served as partner and head of the firm's Technology Group. Earlier, Nigel practiced in the London office of a leading UK law firm.
