Nicole D. Gomes is an Associate in the Los Angeles office. Ms. Gomes represents management in litigation of employment-related matters, among them, defense of single-plaintiff law suits involving allegations of sexual harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation and whistleblower-based allegations. She also assists employers with reductions in workforce and employer compliance with the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) and state mini-WARN Acts. Ms. Gomes responds to administrative charges such as EEOC charges, prepares severance agreements, defends against alleged Cal/OSHA violations, represents employers in disputes of withdrawal liability to pension funds arising under the Multiemployer Pension Plan Amendment Act (MPPAA), and advises and counsels clients in connection with alternative workweek schedules, USERRA Rights, California Domestic Partner Rights, Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs), employee exemption status, FMLA and employee healthcare benefits.
Ms. Gomes was recently appointed to the Firm's Diversity Committee. She is also a member of L.A. Influential, an internal networking and education program.
Ms. Gomes earned her B.A. in Psychology at the University of Southern California in 1996, magna cum laude, where she was a member of Mortar Board and Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her J.D. at Stanford University in 2001, where she was a Member and Board Member of the Stanford Law Review and a Member of Stanford Latina/o Law Student Association. While in law school, Ms. Gomes interned at the San Jose, CA, field office of the EEOC and at the East Palo Alto Community Law Project.
