Nelson Chun is senior vice president and chief legal officer of Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. ("A&B"). He joined A&B in November 2003 as vice president and general counsel.
Prior to joining A&B, he had been a partner with the Honolulu law firm of Cades Schutte LLP, where he had been a member of the firm's Management Committee and its Partner Compensation Committee. He had also been the Chair of the firm's Business Organizations Practice Group and its Health Care Practice Group. He joined Cades Schutte in 1978, and became a partner in 1983.
While in private practice, he had been elected by his peers as one of "America's Best Lawyers" and as one of "America's Leading Business Lawyers," as noted in the Chambers and Partners USA Guide.
Before joining Cades Schutte, he was a law clerk to The Honorable Dick Yin Wong, Judge, United States District Court, District of Hawaii, from 1977 to 1978.
