Muriel Cheng, a partner with Friedman LLP, has over 20 years of experience in public accounting. She performs a variety of tax services for a broad range of clients, including commercial and residential real estate, manufacturing, apparel and service companies, as well as high-net-worth individuals. Muriel has particular experience with companies conducting business in the international marketplace. Her expertise includes: Identifying international tax issues and coordinating their resolution with affiliated specialists Structuring joint ventures of U.S. companies and foreign entities as well as U.S. parents of foreign subsidiaries Assisting companies located in Europe, Asia and Canada in coordinating tax strategies for minimizing repatriating income Additionally, Muriel is actively involved in: Researching and resolving tax issues which arise during the course of business operations Identifying potential problems caused by federal and state tax regulations Representing clients before IRS and state tax authorities in collection matters Representing clients at federal and state government tax examinations Supervising preparation of complex returns Assisting clients during planning phase of major financial transactions American Institute of Certified Public Accountants New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants Muriel Cheng earned a Masters in Taxation from Rutgers University and a B.A. degree in Accounting from Baruch College.
