Morris Gelb is executive vice president and chief operating officer for Lyondell Chemical Company, a position he has held since since 1998.
He began his career at E. I. Dupont de Nemours & Company. From 1969 through 1977, he worked for Halcon/Scientific Design. During that time, he spent a total of four years working internationally with assignments in Spain, Romania, Germany and Japan.
In 1977, Gelb joined Oxirane, a joint venture between Halcon and ARCO Chemical. In 1980, when ARCO Chemical acquired Halcon's interest in Oxirane, he became technical manager for the company's Channelview, Texas complex. In 1984, he moved to Barcelona, Spain, as managing director of ARCO Chemical Iberica. The following year, he moved to ARCO Chemical's European headquarters in England, where he served as vice president, Operations and Business Management. In 1986, he returned to Philadelphia as vice president, Research and Engineering. In July 1997, he was elected senior vice president of ARCO Chemical. ARCO Chemical was acquired by Lyondell in July 1998.
Gelb received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Cooper Union in 1967. |
