Mitchell R. Roper 48, is president of Southern Union Gas Services a position he has held since January, 2007.
Roper joined Southern Union when it purchased Sid Richardson Energy Services, Ltd. and related companies in March 2006. Prior to being named to his current position, Roper served as senior vice president of Southern Union Gas Services and managed the growth, development and operation of this business unit, a position he has held since 1998 when he joined Sid Richardson Carbon & Energy Company.
Prior to joining Sid Richardson, Roper worked in various engineering and business positions with Tenneco Oil Company, Tennessee Gas Pipeline, and Aquila Energy. In 1990, he became vice president of marketing subsequent to the acquisition of Clajon Gas Company a large gatherer of Austin Chalk gas. In 1993, this operation completed a successful IPO, and Roper was subsequently named managing vice president.
Roper earned a bachelor of science degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Missouri in Rolla in 1982.
Roper resides in Fort Worth, Texas.
