Experience:Mitch has over 23 years of accounting experience. After several years as a senior accountant with an international firm, he joined Goodman & Company in 1983 and was admitted to the partnership in 1992. Mitch serves as the firm’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Partner and as Chairman of the firm’s Financial Services Industry Group. He is the Engagement Partner or SEC Review Partner on all banking and other public company engagements. Mitch also serves on the firm’s Quality Control and Accounting and Auditing Committees. He is also the Quality Control Review and Consulting Partner for various tax-exempt organizations. Mitch was a member of the AICPA Banking and Savings Institution Committee responsible for developing the AICPA Audit and Accounting Guide, Banks and Savings Institutions. As a member of the Banking and Savings Institution Committee, he was selected by his fellow committee members to speak at the National Savings Institution Conference on Derivatives: The Basics, and to assist in the development of the AICPA’s Guide for Considering Fraud in a Financial Statement Audit. Mitch also has spoken several times at the annual Virginia Bankers Association CFO Workshop and at the VSCPA/Virginia Tech Annual Accounting and Auditing Conference. Due to Mitch’s knowledge with respect to financial transaction systems and related documentation requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act, he is often called upon to consult on litigation support engagements.
