An accomplished corporate financial executive and entrepreneur, Miljenko founded and currently directs Horvat Capital Corp., a vehicle for his private investment activities which encompass angel investing in technology companies as well as leveraged buyout acquisitions of middle-market companies in affiliation with The Riverside Company, a New York-based leveraged buy-out (LBO) firm with $1.3 billion under management. Miljenko is also a member of the Riverside Micro-Cap Investment Fund, a $150 million leveraged buyout fund focusing on fast growing private companies at the smallest end of the middle market ($5 - $25 Million in revenue).
Previously, Miljenko co-founded and was president and CEO of electronic newspaper delivery company, NewspaperDirect from 1999 to 2003, where he grew the company from two to 60 employees, expanded its market presence to 65 countries, increased revenues by 450% in one year and raised $12.5 million in funding. The company is now valued at approximately $30 million US.
Miljenko began his career in corporate finance in 1985 with Citibank in New York, Latin America, Africa and Eastern Europe, where he stayed for four years before leaving to pursue an independent investment business. Four years later, Citibank recognized his ability to build new businesses from the ground up and asked Miljenko to establish their presence in Russia. He transformed the bank from a three-person office in 1993 to a full-service commercial banking operation with two branches and 175 employees by 1996. As managing director, Miljenko was responsible for Citicorp’s private equity investments in Russia until 1999.
Miljenko holds a MA in international relations with an international finance focus from Yale University and is currently a member of the advisory board for the Maurice Young Center for Entrepreneurship at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia. |
