Miles D. White is the chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Abbott, a broad-based medical products and pharmaceutical company that discovers and develops products that cover the full spectrum of health care. Abbott employs more than 60,000 people and markets its products in more than 130 countries.
After joining Abbott in 1984, Mr. White rose through various management positions, including senior vice president, diagnostics operations, and executive vice president of the corporation. He was elected to the board of directors in April 1998, chief executive officer in January 1999, and chairman of the board in April 1999.
