Born in Cherepovets, Russia, Mikhail Smirnov, began his steel career with JSC Severstal in Russia in 1999. During his years at Severstal, he advanced through key positions at the company and in 2004, was assigned the position of Director Strategic Planning and Development at Severstal North America in Dearborn, Michigan. In 2005, Smirnov was relocated to Columbus, Mississippi, as the Vice-President of Finance for SeverCorr. His educational background is extensive: a Master of Law degree from Moscow State Academy of Law, an MBA from the University of Northumbria in Newcastle, England and a Masters degree in Economics from the Moscow State University of Management. |
