Mike brings 30 years of public safety and firefighting expertise to the Salamander team. Prior to co-founding Salamander Technologies, Mike was the subject matter expert at Portable Data Technologies, Inc. and helped pioneer the use of high-capacity barcodes to track emergency services personnel in the field. His Fire/Rescue experience includes command positions as Safety Officer, Training Officer and Assistant Chief. As a Fire Officer with the Michigan DNR, Mike was a certified Fire Service Instructor. He served on the National Response Team with certifications as a Task Force/Strike Team Leader and Type III V Incident Commander. Mike is a certified ICS instructor who has trained at the National Fire Academy in Emmetsburg, MD. He is a national authority on personnel accountability within the fire service and co-authored the guide, Resource Accountability for First Responders. He also is co-inventor of a patent for tracking victims of mass casualty incidents as well as a patent for creating incident-specific credentials. |
