As Chief Information Officer for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., Mike Sutten is responsible for the management of information resources and information technology assets across the enterprise for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Sutten joined Royal Caribbean in 2000 as vice president, IT Solutions Development. During his tenure, the company was named one of Computerworld's "Top 100 Places to Work in IT" for four of the last five years. He also is responsible for leading a multi-year effort to transform the company's business processes and modernize its IT infrastructure.Under Sutten's direction, Royal Caribbean's IT department has been successful in delivering industry-leading websites for consumer and trade, providing access to state-of-the-art tools for guests and improving the enterprise's overall operational efficiencies. Sutten previously served as vice president and chief technology officer for Koch Industries, a $40 billion petroleum and chemicals company based in Wichita, Kan. Prior to joining Koch, Sutten held several senior-level technology positions with Sybase, one of the industry's leading software vendors. He also worked for 10 years at General Dynamics Electronics Systems, spearheading numerous development and implementation projects for the U.S. government. Sutten earned a bachelor's degree in industrial and systems engineering from Iowa State University and a master's in business administration with an emphasis in information systems from the University of San Diego.
