Mr. McGowan has been working at the heart of the internet, media and communications for the last decade. From 1996 to 2003, he was a Vice President at AOL and AOL Time Warner. At AOL, Mr. McGowan worked on matters of considerable strategic importance to AOL, including mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures and business alliances. From 2000 to 2003, he led business development for AOL'S instant messaging and wireless groups, and he created partnerships with each of the national wireless carriers. Most recently, Mr. McGowan has been an independent consultant providing advisory services to growing companies in information technology, media and communications. Prior to joining AOL, Mr. McGowan was an attorney at two of the nation's leading law firms, Latham & Watkins and Shaw Pittman. Mr. McGowan graduated cum laude from Harvard College and magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center where he was an Articles Editor on the Georgetown Law Journal. After law school, he clerked for Judge Douglas Woodlock of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. |
