Mike Johnson joined the Ravens in 2006 as the team's wide receivers coach after 4 years with the Atlanta Falcons...Johnson, who tutored Michael Vick as Atlanta's QBs coach for 3 years, leads a Ravens' WRs unit that broke team receiving records in 2005...WR Derrick Mason set a Ravens' franchise record with 86 receptions, TE Todd Heap added another 75, and WR Mark Clayton set a rookie single-season team record in catches (44) and yards (471).

OVERVIEW: Johnson spent 4 seasons with the Falcons, his 1st (2002) as WRs coach and last 3 as QBs coach...Vick, who is a 3-time Pro Bowler (2002, 2004, 2005), became the 1st NFL QB to throw for more than 250 yards and run for over 100 yards in a single game (at Den., 10/31/04)...In 2003, interim head coach Wade Phillips (who replaced Dan Reeves) asked Johnson to call the Falcons' offensive plays in the final 2 games of the season...Vick responded and compiled the 2 highest QB ratings of the season in those games (119.2 at TB, 12/20 and 93.0 vs. Jax., 12/28)...As Atlanta's WRs coach in 2002, Johnson guided a young receiving corps that included WR Brian Finneran, who had the best year of his career (56 rec. for 838 yards and 6 TDs)...Johnson spent 2 seasons coaching the San Diego Chargers' QBs, including Doug Flutie, who amassed career highs with 3,464 yards passing and 294 completions in 2001...Johnson started his coaching career at Oregon State, after brief playing stints in the NFL (Arizona Cardinals), World League (San Antonio Rough Riders) and CFL (British Columbia Lions and Shreveport Pirates).

2002-05: (with Atlanta) 2005: Under Johnson's guidance, Vick continued to improve, tallying 2,412 passing yards and 15 TDs and was 2nd on the NFL's top rushing team with 597 rushing yards and 6 rushing TDs. 2003-04: Vick earned his 2nd Pro Bowl in 2004 and became the 1st NFL QB to throw for more than 250 yards and run for over 100 yards in a single game (at Den. 10/31/04). 2002: As Atlanta's WRs coach, Johnson guided a young receiving corps that included WR Brian Finneran, who had the best year of his career (56 rec. for 838 yards and 6 TDs).

2000-01: (with San Diego) 2001: With Johnson as his coach, Chargers' QB Doug Flutie had a stellar season, tallying career highs in completions (294), attempts (521), and passing yards (3,464)...Flutie's passing yardage was the most by a SD QB since Dan Fouts' 3,638 yards in 1985...Flutie posted 4 300-yard games. 2000: In his 1st year as an NFL coach, Johnson coached the Chargers' QBs.

1997-99: (with Oregon State) 1999: Was QBs coach. 1997-98: Entered the coaching ranks as the Beavers' WRs coach.

1996: Was the offensive coordinator at his alma mater, Baldwin Park (CA) HS.

1994-95: (with Shreveport Pirates) Quarterbacked the CFL's Pirates for 2 years in his final pro playing days.

1992-93: (with British Columbia Lions) Was the Lions' QB for 2 seasons.

1991-92: (with San Antonio Riders) Played 2 years at QB for the World League's Riders.

1990: (with Arizona) Signed as a rookie free agent QB with the Arizona Cardinals...Spent training camp with the Cardinals but was released in the team's final cut.

PERSONAL: Johnson was the backup QB at Arizona State University from 1985-86, but then transferred to Mesa Community College where he became a Junior College All-American in 1987...Johnson moved on to the University of Akron for 2 years (1988-89) and was named Akron's Athlete of the Year in 1990...Received his degree in communications...Earned 11 letters, including 3 each in football, basketball and baseball at Baldwin Park (CA) HS...Johnson was Baldwin Park's varsity basketball coach for the 1993-94 season...Mike is president of the First and Ten Foundation, which is a nationwide program dedicated to the development of high school student-athletes...He plans to hold his 4-day First-and-Ten camp in Baltimore next summer...Johnson's younger brother, Gary, played minor league baseball for both the Chicago Cubs and Florida Marlins organizations...Mike and wife, Louan, who was a track star at USC and college classmate of Ravens secondary coach Mark Carrier, are the parents of daughter Taylor (8) and son Michael, Jr. (6).
