Mike Hegedus is a CNBC special features reporter, covering business stories across the United States and overseas for CNBC's "On The Money."
Hegedus' feature segment, "Mike On The Money," appears on "On The Money" three nights a week. In addition, Hegedus is host of the hour program also titled, Mike On The Money, which is seen on the network on market holidays.
In November 2006, Hegedus received a nomination for the Emmy Awards for Business & Financial Reporting in the category Outstanding Coverage of a Current Business News Story in a Regularly Scheduled Newscast for his report "China Watch", which takes the rare opportunity to get inside some of the largest businesses in China's Zhejiang province.
Hegedus joined CNBC in 1998 after serving as executive producer for news programming at Americast, a joint venture between Disney and several cable companies to initiate a new television service.
From 1994 to 1996, Hegedus was a special correspondent and show producer for the NBC Stations Division in Burbank and a special features correspondent for WNBC, the network's flagship television station located in New York. Prior to that, he was executive producer and host of the weekly syndicated program "Prime Suspect."
Hegedus also served as special projects correspondent for KPIX-TV in San Francisco, and as an investigative and economics reporter for WRG-TV in Buffalo, N.Y. He has received numerous honors for his work as a journalist including AP and UPI awards for feature and investigative reporting, Press Club Awards for documentary production/writing, a Los Angeles Press Club award for coverage of the L.A. riots and eight regional News and Documentary Emmy Awards for reporting, writing and producing.
Hegedus has extensive overseas reporting experience, including coverage of the Romanian and Philippine revolutions, multiple trips to the Middle East, China, and coverage of both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games.
Hegedus attended Albion College and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. |
