Mike Greene, 60, is the chairman and CEO of TXU Power, the production subsidiary of TXU Corp. He is responsible for TXU's fossil and nuclear generation fleet, lignite mining operation and the TXU Operating System initiative.
Greene's employment with TXU began in 1969 at Texas Electric Service Company in the Power Department as a junior engineer. Other positions for TXU have included vice president of marketing, executive vice president of TXU Fuel, executive vice president of TXU Mining, president of electric transmission, president of TXU Pipeline and president of Oncor, formerly the name of TXU's electric and natural gas delivery operations.
Greene is a member of the Electric Power Research Institute Board of Directors. He is past chairman of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and the North American Electric Reliability Council Stakeholder's Committee. He is an appointed member of the Texas Railroad Commission's Natural Gas Reliability Council and is a registered professional engineer in the State of Texas, a member of the National and Texas Society of Professional Engineers and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
A native of Texas, Greene graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1969 with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. He has been married to his wife, Janet, for 35 years. They have four children and one grandchild.
