Richard M. Cassidy
Division Senior Vice President, Operations, Navy/Air Force Systems
Richard M. Cassidy is presently the Division Senior Vice President for Operations, Navy/Air Force Systems, of General Dynamics Information Technology. He joined the company as part of the acquisition of Anteon in 2006. He served at Anteon beginning in January 2003 as Group Senior Vice President for the System Engineering Group. Prior to that position, Mr. Cassidy spent seven years in increasingly responsible executive positions with Lockheed Martin. These included Vice President for Naval Systems, Senior Vice President for Advanced Naval Programs, Senior Vice President for Moorestown Operations and, most recently, Senior Vice President for the Naval Electronics and Surveillance System Business Segment. Before joining Lockheed Martin, Mr. Cassidy served over twenty-five years as an officer in the U.S. Navy. After beginning service at sea in destroyers, he became an Engineering Duty Officer serving in Combat System Program Management assignments culminating in his selection as the Program Manager for the AEGIS Weapon System and Technical Director for the AEGIS Program. In his final assignment, Mr. Cassidy served as Commanding Officer of the Naval Research Laboratory, the Navy's corporate laboratory. He retired in 1996 with the rank of Captain. Mr. Cassidy received his bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina in 1970. He also received a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in 1976 and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1979. In 1990 he attended MIT Sloan School Senior Executive Course. His Navy awards include two Legion of Merit Awards, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and two Navy Meritorious Service Medals.
