With more than 30 years in the healthcare industry, Mike Burke has a proven record of success, delivering strong growth and increasing value for company stakeholders in both start-up and Fortune 100 companies. Mr. Burke has held management positions in U.S. and international operations, distribution, sales, marketing, regulatory, and services in a variety of global enterprises, including American Hospital Supply and Picker International. In 1995, Mr. Burke became president of AccuMed International’s $2.5 million microbiology division, and in only two years, grew the division internally and through acquisitions into a profitable $20 million operation. In 1998, Mr. Burke acquired the microbiology assets of AccuMed and related assets of Becton Dickinson in partnership with KeyCorp’s Key Equity Capital. He founded TREK Diagnostic Systems in January 1999, and since then, the company has introduced industry-leading products to the market, specializing in automated microbiology systems for the detection, identification, and testing of antibiotic resistance of bacterial pathogens. In 2004, Mr. Burke was honored with a Northeast Ohio Entrepreneur of the Year Award by Ernst & Young LLP. Magellan acquired TREK in December 2006. |
