Mike Brooks joined Venrock in May 2000 as a General Partner. His previous experience was with Morgan Stanley & Co., where he was a Managing Director responsible for the firm's investment banking activities with emerging growth and technology companies, and with J.H. Whitney & Co., where he served as Managing Partner and Senior Partner during his tenure there. Brooks, based in New York, concentrates on information technology investments. He currently serves on the board of Sungard Data Systems, a public computer services company, and on Spotlight Solutions and Evergreen Assurance. During his twenty year career in the venture capital industry, Brooks has served on the boards of several successful information technology companies including DecisionOne, Homestore.com, MediaMetrix, Niku, P-Com, Pegasus Communications and USInternetworking. He has also served as a director of the National Venture Capital Association. Brooks has a B.A. degree in History from Yale College and a M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School.
