Mike Baynes has worked in the field in of geology for the last 17 years. He is an honours graduate of Rhodes University. His experience has centred mainly on the Bushveld Complex, Witwatersrand Supergroup and Archean greenstone terrains. His early career was spent in platinum exploration focussed on the Plat Reef and has since been based squarely on gold mining and the associated resources & reserves with some minor time spent in base metals. Mike has always been keenly involved in the logical computerisation of geological data and interfacing the needs of a geologist with the limitations of computer programs. Most of his geological experience was gained within South Africa but his career has also taken him to Saudi Arabia and Tanzania. He is presently registered with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions and is a member of the Geological Society of South Africa. Mike was appointed to the Burnstone management team in April 2007. |
