Mike Bartelli is president of Millsport Motorsports. Bartelli joined Millsport in 2000 as vice president to build the agency's motorsports practice. He was promoted to senior vice president in 2002 and named president in January 2008.
Today, Millsport is among the best-known and most successful client-side agencies in the racing business with a client portfolio that includes program development and management for Sunoco, Tylenol, XM Satellite Radio, Pepcid, and Elizabeth Arden.
In 2001, Bartelli led the acquisition and development of the inaugural NASCAR Cup race at Chicagoland Speedway for a new client, Tropicana. The result - "The Tropicana 400" - gained instant recognition by industry insiders as a benchmark NASCAR event and future model for pervasive sponsorship activation, brand integration and equity ownership.
Other successes in the company's motorsports space quickly followed, resulting in Millsport opening a Charlotte office in 2002 that is dedicated solely to motorsports marketing and program management. Bartelli and his team of motorsports experts diligently negotiate and manage major event entitlements, track relationships, structure team and driver sponsorship and steward client relationships with NASCAR, as well as develop the activation and promotional programming that drives business results for clients.
Prior to Millsport, Bartelli served as vice president, business development, for Action Performance Companies, the world's largest manufacturer of licensed motorsports merchandise; and served as director, marketing partnerships for International Speedway Corporation (ISC), the world's leading promoter of motorsports events.
An expert in motorsports marketing and program activation, Bartelli has been quoted in USA Today, NASCAR Scene, Los Angeles Times, The Sporting News, Charlotte Business Journal, Sports Business Journal, Washington Post, St. Petersburg Times, Orlando Sentinel, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and Adweek.
Bartelli was named to the 2005 Street & Smith's SportsBusiness Journal's "Forty Under 40" list of the industry's top achievers under the age of 40. He serves on the Charlotte board of directors for the National Sports Marketing Network, the national trade organization for the sports business industry. He attended Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y. |
